I grew up with a darkroom in my basement. I remember sitting under the glow of a red light with the smell of developer filling the space. I would carefully wrap the negatives around the canister – sealed in a dark bag so it had to be done by feel. If the negatives touched, they would be ruined so it was a bit of blind faith that it was done right. Then they were ready – each shot a unique moment in time that was only revealed sometimes weeks after the shoot. To be honest, when I look back at my negatives, I notice how crafted and intentioned each shot was. You only had so many – so each shot had to count.
I strive to bring this feeling back into the world of digital photography. I strive to craft images that reflect an artistry, an ode to the unique light that existed in that brief moment of time.
Nelson BC Photography
I studied photography in New York City in 1997 – 2001, taking in the diverse visual tapestry of The City, and the surrounding area. Since then, photography has been an integral part of my life. Now based in Nelson, British Columbia, my photography is influenced by the playful natural world in which I live – a diverse setting defined by a landscape unlike any other.
Professional Results
I strive to continually push the envelope of my craft. From corporate headshots to the magic of nighttime landscape photography high up in the winter alpine, I have a restless yearning to make every image and progression on learning to capture and reflect light through this medium.
